Students were directed to trace other peers body parts and then picked a color scheme to paint it in. They had to work together to come up with a cohesive compostition.

Emotional Self Portrait
Students were directed to utilize techniques learned throughout the semester to create a self portrait that evoked a certain emotion. They could use pencil, collage, paint or any other media at there disposal to create a 2D image.

Once Removed/ Blind Observation
Students were taken into the office one by one to describe an object given to them on a piece of paper. Every student then received another peers description and had to make a paper mache version of it. Displayed is the object described with the artwork created from its description.
Opposites Attract Painting
For this project, students were to choose two things that they considered opposites. They could do two seperate compositions or have a split composition. Using color and theme they were to convey the opposites.

Colored Shapes into 3D Sculpture
Students created shapes out of cardboard and picked a color scheme to paint them. They then were directed to create a 3D sculpture out of all the pieces created.
Pattern Transition Accordion Book
Having to combine drawing, painting and bookmaking, students created a pattern transition book that merged one pattern to another. The front and back covers were painted patterns to match the drawings inside.

Sol LeWitt Inspired Directional Compositions
Students wrote a set of instructions to be given to another student. The other student completed the instructions and both the instructions and the piece were given back to the first student.
Traced Facades
Students chose multiple buildings to draw by tracing the most important parts. Starting with just one building they then combined multipe images to come up with a new facade.

Starting with painting one shape of the still life in front of them students had to work out from that first shape, painting adjacent objects to fill the composition.

One Pen, One Drawing
Students were given one ballpoint pen and had to come up with a drawing that used all the ink in the pen.
Camouflage Leaf
Painting project that challenged students to take a leaf from outside. They had to match the colors and textures of the leaf so that it would blend into the painted background.

Students took a black and white photograph and minimized the shapes, values and lines to create a color composition using collage.

Students took a black and white photograph, simplified the image by shape, values and line to create an abstract image.
Patterns in Nature Drawings
Ribbons and Ropes
Directed to draw a composition of multiple ribbons, students then had to choose two colors to paint in the ribbons. Transitioning from one color to the next allowed them to see the middle mixture of the two colors chosen. They then used that middle mixture to paint the background color.

Paintings were created through examination on patterns found in nature. Students sketched out several transitions between patterns and then had to paint their compositions for the final project.
